An officer with the Riverside (CA) Police Department was injured when a roadwork vehicle operated by Caltrans made an unexpected turn into his path of travel on a freeway.

An officer with the Riverside (CA) Police Department was injured when a roadwork vehicle operated by Caltrans made an unexpected turn into his path of travel on a freeway.

According to KTLA-TV, police were preparing to reopen the freeway after shutting it down due to the call of a suicidal woman threatening to jump from an overpass to the surface of the roadway on Saturday afternoon.

Following the collision, the officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
