An officer with the Suffolk County (NY) Police Department helped to deliver a baby girl in the early hours of the morning Monday.
According to the Daily Voice, Officer Robert Burgos responded to a 911 call of a 29-year-old woman in active labor at her home in Patchogue.
Upon arrival at the scene, Burgos determined that the birth was imminent, so he assisted the woman—Edith Punin—in giving birth to little Kayla Maritza.
Mother and baby were transported to a nearby hospital where both are doing well.
