Off-Duty NYPD Inspector Killed in Motorcycle Crash

An off-duty inspector with the New York Police Department was struck and killed by a dumpster truck while he rode his motorcycle to work on Monday morning.

An off-duty inspector with the New York Police Department was struck and killed by a dumpster truck while he rode his motorcycle to work on Monday morning, according to officials.

According to WPIX-TV, 56-year-old Michael McGrath was commanding officer of the New York City Police Department Cadet Corps and was en route from his home in the Bronx to the police academy in Queens at the time of the collision.

McGrath was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
