According to CBS News , police were responding to a domestic violence call on Staten Island when gunfire broke out.

A gunman—identified as 39-year-old Gregory Edwards—was fatally wounded in a gunfight with officers on Staten Island on Tuesday.

The wounded 30-year-old officer—whose name has not been released—was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her wounds.
