An officer with the Redwood City (CA) Police Department who was responding to a call of an active home invasion by four masked men lost control of her patrol vehicle on wet pavement and struck a pedestrian in the center median.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, after hitting the pedestrian—identified only as an adult man—the patrol car struck two other cars before coming to a stop.
The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries. The officer was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
A K-9 in the patrol car appeared uninjured but was set to be examined by a veterinarian.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated at the scene by paramedics.
