An officer with the New York Police Department who was shot in a gunfight on Staten Island on Tuesday walked out of the hospital on Wednesday with dozens of officers standing and applauding.
According to CBS News, Officer Vanesa Medina was wounded when she and other officers responded to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival to the scene, the subject—identified as 39-year-old Gregory Edwards—opened fire, striking Medina in the left wrist.

Edwards was shot and killed by other officers.
Upon her release from the hospital, officers cheered when she stood up from the wheelchair she was seated in and walked to a waiting vehicle.
When asked how she was feeling, Medina mouthed the word "good."
