A federal jury in Fresno, CA, convicted two individuals for aiding and abetting the undocumented immigrant with gang affiliations who shot and killed Corporal Ronil Singh of the Newman Police Department in December 2018.

According to Fox News, 34-year-old Conrado Virgen Mendoza and 28-year-old Erik Quiroz Razo—both of whom are undocumented immigrants from Mexico—sought to help Virgen Mendoza escape to Mexico.

Corporal Singh had stopped a vehicle Virgen was driving and at some point during the stop the gunman opened fire, fatally wounding Singh. Virgen then fled, sparking a two-day manhunt. Virgen was ultimately arrested in Bakersfield, nearly 200 miles from the shooting scene.

The jury acquitted two other family members—36-year-old Erasmo Villegas Suarez and 57-year-old Maria Luisa Moreno—during the proceedings.
