Wisconsin PD Reducing Parking Fines in Exchange for Food Donations

The Menomonie (WI) Police Department will take $2 off your parking fines for each item you bring into the police department during the months of November and December, with donations benefitting the Stepping Stones of Dunn County food pantry.

The Menomonie (WI) Police Department will take $2 off your parking fines for each item you bring into the police department during the months of November and December, with donations benefitting the Stepping Stones of Dunn County food pantry.

The agency posted on Facebook, "Have outstanding parking tickets you need to resolve? Know that one person who *always* seems to forget to plug their parking meter? Mark your calendars for this year's Food For Fines program!"

The post continued, "For the fourth year, we will be holding our Food For Fines program from November 1-December 31. Citizens may bring in canned food items during business hours to receive $2 off of their parking citation for each item donated.

In the first three years of the program, the agency has donated more than 3,000 pounds of food.

The agency said that public safety violations—such as parking in a fire lane, double parking, and blocking traffic—do not qualify for this program.
