A Texas man who took an officer's baton and beat him with it was fatally shot by that officer on Tuesday morning, officials say.
According to KMBT-TV, the man—identified as 37-year-old Crederick Joseph—was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had initially been called to a local hotel when the desk clerk reported a trespasser to 911 dispatchers.
As a responding officer attempted to place Joseph in handcuffs, the subject grabbed his baton and began a brutal assault, police say. The officer drew and fired, fatally wounding the man.
