The Sterling (IL) Police Department is fully staffed for the first time in two decades.

According to WQAD-TV, Sterling Police Chief Tim Morgan has reported that his agency has a full compliment of 29 officers—the department had nearly ten fewer than that number just last year.

Chief Morgan says the increase in officers is the result of more active recruiting at local universities and a city-wide salary increase, as well as the influx of several previously trained officers moving into the area.

Chief Morgan recognizes that he and his agency is fortunate to have achieved this goal, stating "Everywhere is short-staffed."
