Every member of the East Galesburg (IL) Police Department has tendered their resignation—effective later in November—along with the mayor, the city clerk, and a maintenance worker.
According to WQAD-TV, Mayor Teri Peterson said in a post on social media that she has experienced "individuals taking pictures of me in a public place, video recordings and audio recordings of me without my knowledge or permission."
She said in the post that Chief Jack Harlan, and two officers—identified only as Adam and Barry—also have tendered their resignations.
Peterson said, "I know there will be speculation, accusations and mud slinging going on social media and within the village as it has already started. Please know that each of us are disappointed in that we ALL had hopes of working as a team to make East Galesburg a better place to live and grow."
No further explanation was given for the resignations.
