An officer with the San Jose Police Department fatally shot an armed man at a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon, shutting down a busy freeway in the heart of the Silicon Valley.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, the officer shot the passenger of a stopped vehicle when he reportedly emerged from the car and presented a handgun.
The man—whose identity has not been released—was reportedly wanted on a warrant. He died at the scene.
The driver of the car was unharmed. No officers were injured in the incident.
