Two employees—one a manager and one a cashier—of a restaurant in North Carolina have been fired after it was discovered that they refused to serve an officer with the Roxboro Police Department.

According to WTVD, Sergeant Kenneth Horton visited a location of a popular regional food chain for a shift meal and was refused service by the cashier.

Word of Horton's experience quickly spread, and the company—Cook Out—decided to fire both the cashier and the manager who was on duty at the time of the incident.

Chief David Hess said, "We did not contact corporate directly asking them to fire this employee. Cook Out took it upon themselves to take action."
