Tennessee Deputy Killed in Vehicle Collision

A deputy with the Cheatham County (TN) Sheriff's Office was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon.

According to the Tennessean, 50-year-old Deputy Stephen Reece was behind the wheel of his department vehicle when he collided with another motorist in a van at an intersection.

Deputy Reece had reportedly stopped at an intersection of a state road and two rural roads and was beginning to cross the state road when the van crashed into his vehicle.

Reece was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cheatham County Sheriff Breedlove said, "We're hurting tonight, and we'll hurt for quite some time."

Deputy Reece was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served in law enforcement for 19 years. He is survived by his wife, two children, and three siblings.
