A woman was arrested over the weekend for allegedly being behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck an officer with the Surprise (AZ) Police Department.
According to AZcentral.com, the driver of the vehicle—identified as 30-year-old Kourtnie Chavez—had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.29%, according to police, when she allegedly struck an officer who was standing beside his patrol vehicle at the scene of a traffic collision.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Chavez has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of endangerment.
