An officer with the Bridgeport Police Department died suddenly while off duty, the agency said in an announcement.
According to Fox News, Officer Jarah Matthews-Dixon—a 12-year veteran of the force and a recipient of the Medal of Merit—was in Stamford when he suffered an undisclosed medical emergency.
Bridgeport Chief of Police Armando Perez said, "Officer Matthews-Dixon was a great officer, a kind person, and he will surely be missed; our department is very saddened at this time."
Details of the cause of death have not been released.
