An officer with the Forest Hill (TX) Police Department is recovering from a gunshot wound to the arm she suffered early Wednesday morning.
According to WBAP Radio, Forest Hill Chief of Police Dan Dennis said in a statement Wednesday morning that the officer—identified Wednesday afternoon as 24-year-old Naquirra Williams—is in stable condition and "in good spirits."
She is expected to make a full recovery.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. at Forest Hill Drive and Interstate-20, reports CBS DFW.
The gunman fled the scene of the shooting in Williams' patrol vehicle, leading other officers on a brief pursuit, police say. The chase ended when the suspect crashed and additional shots were fired, leaving the suspect dead.
