A man is now facing multiple charges after allegedly murdering a woman and then opening fire on responding police officers Feb. 10.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, newly filed charging documents state that Natalie Thurber had called 911 and said that a man—later identified as 31-year-old Micheal Tyson Nance—was attempting to kill her.
Officers responded and found Thurber cowering in a bathroom as Nance attempted to strangle her, according to charging documents. As officers continued to make entry, Nance reportedly shot Thurber, mortally wounding her, and fired shots at officers, striking at least one officer in the leg.
Nance fled but was apprehended shortly thereafter.
