The man convicted last week of murdering Officer David Sherrard of the Richardson (TX) Police Department has been sentenced to death by a jury after eight hours of deliberation.
According to Fox News, 28-year-old Brandon McCall had barricaded himself in an apartment after police responded to a call of shots fired.
Gunfire was exchanged and Sherrard—who was 37 years old—was shot in the neck. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he subsequently died.
Officer Sherrard had served with the Richardson Police Department for 13 years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
