Alabama Officer Shot, Expected to Fully Recover

An officer with the Birmingham (AL) Police Department who was shot on Wednesday is expected to fully recover from his wounds.

According to NBC News , Sergeant Anthony Wheeler—a 10-year veteran of the agency—was shot several times during a traffic stop.

The alleged gunman is now in custody and two other persons of interest have been detained.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
