An officer with the Merced (CA) Police Department has tested positive for COVID-19—the disease caused by the novel coronavirus—and has now been quarantined to their home in Madera.
According to the Merced County Times, the infected individual was reportedly in contact with individuals at the Merced County District Attorney's Office. Those people are also among the many city employees who are now being tested.
This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Merced County.
