An officer with the Punjab Police in India had his hand chopped off with a sword while he was attempting to enforce the lockdown put in place by the government amid the spread of COVID-19.
According to CNN, the incident occurred as police attempted to stop a vehicle entering a barricaded vegetable market in Patiala district.
During the ensuing vehicle stop, Officer Harjit Singh had his severed left hand reattached to his wrist following nearly eight hours of surgery.
