Ohio Officer Injured After Pulling Passenger from Burning Car

An officer with the Willoughby Hills (OH) Police Department was hurt Saturday night after he pulled a man from a fiery crash that happened during a vehicle pursuit.

An officer with the Willoughby Hills (OH) Police Department was hurt Saturday night after he pulled a passenger from a fiery crash that happened during a vehicle pursuit.

According to Cleveland.com, the incident occurred on Saturday night when the officer saw a silver Chevy Corvette going 117 mph in a 60-mph zone.

Following a pursuit, the Corvette crashed, and burst into flames. The officer responded by pulling a passenger from the car, but in so doing also suffered undisclosed injuries. The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital, where they subsequently died.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene but later checked himself into a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Willoughby Hills police have not released the officer's name or his condition.
