An officer with the Chicago Police Department was stabbed by someone who allegedly started a fire Wednesday in that city's Northwest Side.
According to NBC News, police say first responders were called to the scene of a fire, and upon arrival encountered a woman who became combative and attacked one of the officers present.
The officer suffered a stab wound to the lower right calf. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to fully recover.
Fire crews extinguished the fire and the woman was taken into custody.
The name of the assailant has not been released, nor have details of any charges she might face.
