An officer with the Sioux Falls (SD) Police Department who was dragged by a car driven by a juvenile subject early Sunday morning is expected to fully recover from his injuries.
According to ABC News, officers had responded to a local hotel following reports of an assault taking place.
Upon arrival, officers found a juvenile suspectâwhose name has not been releasedâattempting to flee the scene in a vehicle.
The car was briefly stopped in traffic and an officer attempted to reach into the vehicle to turn off the engine. The juvenile then rolled up the driver's side windowâtrapping the officer's armâand began to drive forward, causing the officer to be dragged for a distance before breaking free.
Officers were able to eventually stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for what were called non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending against the juvenile driver.
