Arizona Motor Officer Dies in Crash During Demonstration at School

An officer with the Peoria (AZ) Police Department died Wednesday after crashing his motorcycle during a youth academy training session.

According to Fox-10 News, the department verified that Officer Jason Judd—a 21-year veteran of the force—was seriously injured in the crash on the campus of a local high school where the agency is hosting a "Youth Citizen Police Academy Camp" for area teens.

Judd was transported to a nearby hospital where he subsequently died of his injuries.

"Today is a tough day for the Peoria Police Department," Peoria Police Chief Art Miller said in announcing Judd's death.

Officer Judd was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had had served with the Peoria Police Department for 21 years.
