Texas Officer Injured in Bicycle Accident Released from Hospital

Detective Alan Branch of the the Arlington (TX) Police Department was off duty and participating in group bicycle ride with petitioners of his Fort Worth church when a vehicle struck several riders in late August.

An officer with the Arlington (TX) Police Department who was badly injured when a vehicle crashed into a group of people on bicycles has been released from an area hospital and is expected to fully recover.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Detective Alan Branch was off duty and participating in group bicycle ride with petitioners of his Fort Worth church in late August.

One rider—identified as 57-year-old Steven Dennis Cannon—was killed in the incident, and Officer Branch suffered significant injuries requiring hospitalization and "a few surgeries" according to the department.

The agency posted an image on its Facebook page showing Branch surrounded by family as he left the hospital for recovery at his home, saying, in part, "Detective Alan Branch has been released from the hospital and rehabilitation facility. He was greeted by his coworkers from the Crimes Against Children Unit as he was escorted home with his family.
