An officer with the Owensboro (KY) Police Department who was stabbed in the face by a subject during an altercation on Sunday afternoon is expected to recover from what were termed by the agency as non-life-threatening injuries.
According to NBC News, police say officers were trying to take 31-year-old Harold Sanders into custody for an outstanding warrant when Sanders brandished a knife and attacked one of the officers.
Owensboro Police spokesperson Andrew Boggess told reporters that the officer—whose name has not been released—was transported to a nearby hospital and treated and released.
According to reports, Sanders is now charged with the attempted murder of a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, as well as the original outstanding warrant.
