An officer with the Clovis (CA) Police Department was hospitalized following a four-car vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon.
According to ABC News, the officer had pulled over on the right shoulder of a local highway to remove from the road some debris that he had deemed to be a potential traffic hazard.
He was in the midst of this process when at least one passing vehicle struck his parked patrol car, forcing it into him. Several other vehicles then collided.
The officer—whose name has not been released—was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
