Syracuse Officer Passes Away from Carbon Monoxide Exposure
An officer with the Syracuse Police Department has died following exposure to carbon monoxide in his personally owned boat on Oneida Lake.
Detective William LaShomb passed away at his residence from an earlier carbon monoxide exposure.

An officer with the Syracuse Police Department has died following exposure to carbon monoxide in his personally-owned boat on Oneida Lake.
The agency said on Facebook that it is deeply saddened to announce the death of Detective William LaShomb, who passed away at his residence today from an earlier carbon monoxide exposure.
He had been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment late last month, but eventually succumbed to the toxins that had entered his system.
"Detective LaShomb has been a member of the Syracuse Police Department for over 13 years," the social media post said.
LaShomb started in the patrol division and worked in various units until his final assignment as a Detective within the Gang Violence Task Force.
The Facebook post concluded, "LaShomb proudly served the residents of the City of Syracuse and removed numerous violent individuals off of the streets. Also, he served on the Department's SWAT team as a team leader."
