An officer with the Mississippi Highway Patrol was reportedly injured in a vehicle crash that left his patrol car overturned beside the roadway near Vicksburg on Saturday morning.
According to WLBT-TV News, the trooper's vehicle left the roadway on a local highway and flipped over several times, leaving him trapped inside for a period of time.
Responders were able to extract the trooper—whose name has not been released—and transport him via helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment.
His condition has also not yet been released.
Officials believe he lost control of the vehicle, but the cause is unknown.
