NC College Offering Course on Abolishing Police

The "critical Black studies" course aims to take a philosophical look at the relationship between Blackness and policing in the U.S., according to a course description.

Starting this fall, Davidson College in Davidson, NC, will be offering a course titled "#Abolishthepolice: Race and Policing in the U.S." 

The "critical Black studies" course aims to take a philosophical look at the relationship between Blackness and policing in the U.S., according to a course description

It will enlist "Black political and feminist theories" and social and political philosophies to "critically examine and think through issues of race, criminalization, incarceration, police militarization, predictive policing, surveillance, and domestic security," Fox News reports. 

Fox News reached out to the course instructor, Claudia Garcia-Rojas, but did not hear back before publication. 

Bard College, a New York liberal arts college, is offering a course this fall on how to "sell" the abolition of prisons.

The "Abolishing Prisons and the Police" class being offered at Bard College will teach students how to "sell" abolition to the masses and design a multi-media ad campaign to make prison abolition go viral," according to a course description.
