A Selma, AL, police officer was ambushed and killed early Tuesday morning at his residence.
Officer Marquis Moorer, 25, was on duty when he stopped by his apartment for his lunch break between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m., officials say.
A suspect approached Moorer and opened fire, also wounding a woman who was Moore’s “significant other,” Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson told AL.Com. The woman was hospitalized but the severity of her injuries wasn’t immediately available.
ABC News reports that the shots were fired into Moorer's apartment from outside.
Jackson called the shooting an "ambush."
Multiple agencies are investigating, including the State Bureau of Investigation, Selma police, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, ATF and the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force.
