CA Officer Critically Wounded, Suspect Killed in Gunfight Outside Police Station

Police responded to the front entrance of the police station, regarding a road rage incident in the area of the 5 and 57 Freeways at around 7:04 p.m., the La Habra Police Department said in a news release Saturday.

A La Habra, CA, officer was critically wounded Friday evening in a gunfight outside the entrance of the Orange County city's police station. The suspect was killed.

Police responded to the front entrance of the police station, regarding a road rage incident in the area of the 5 and 57 Freeways at around 7:04 p.m., the La Habra Police Department said in a news release Saturday. 

Upon arriving at the entrance to the police station, an “officer-involved shooting occurred,” police said. Further details about the shooting and what led up to it are not yet known, KTLA reports.

As of Saturday afternoon, the wounded officer was in critical but stable condition and was “alert,” police said.

The individual who was fatally shot by police was the suspect in the road incident incident, according to police. A woman reportedly called 911 about the road rage situation and was told to come to the station.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
