A tractor-trailer slammed into the back of a Massachusetts State Police cruiser just before midnight Tuesday, seriously injuring the trooper inside of the vehicle as he sat parked on Interstate 95 protecting a construction crew, state police said.
The unnamed male trooper, sitting in his cruiser on the southbound side of I-95, was seriously injured, but was alert and radioed for help himself, Dave Procopio, the state police’s media communications director, told Mass Live .
The cruiser was unmarked, but had its emergency lights on when it was struck, he said.
The trooper was transported to a Boston hospital. WCVB reports the trooper has been released. The nature of his injuries has not been released.
