Investigators said the ATF officers were attempting to bring the suspect into custody when the gunfight erupted.

An ATF agent was seriously wounded and the suspect was killed in a gunfight Tuesday afternoon in a Nashville parking lot.

Surveillance video from the scene appears to show that the agent and suspect exchanged fire through the windshields of their vehicles.

The identity of the wounded agent has not been released.

Metro Nashville Police identified the deceased suspect as Corey Daniel Wellman, 40.

MNPD spokesman, Don Aaron, said Wellman was a convicted felon still on parole from a 2006 cocaine-related offense.

Court records show Wellman also has a long list of priors in Davidson County including voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and drug possession.
