Part of Interstate 5 in Colusa County, CA, has been named to honor a fallen Davis police officer.
A 5-mile stretch in Arbuckle is now known as the Officer Natalie Corona Memorial Highway. Signs were installed during a ceremony in her hometown Thursday, KCRA reports.
"Today, alongside her family, members of the Davis City Council, the Davis City Manager’s Office, the Davis Police Department and the Davis Fire Department, and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry attended the unveiling of the highway signs honoring Officer Natalie Corona…" the Davis Police Department said on Facebook.
Officer Corona was shot and killed in January 2019 while responding to a crash.
The shooter was not involved in the crash. Davis police say the gunman approached Officer Corona on a bicycle as the 22-year-old rookie was investigating the three-car traffic collision and opened fire in an unprovoked ambush attack.
He was later found dead of apparent suicide.
