NC Officer Shot During Domestic Dispute at IHOP

Authorities said that while officers were attempting to detain the suspect, she attempted to take one of the officers' gun and it discharged, striking officer H.L. Jefferson in the leg.

A police officer who was shot Monday afternoon amid a domestic dispute at an IHOP restaurant in Greensboro, NC, has been released from the hospital.

The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. outside of the restaurant, WXII reports.

Police said officers were called to the restaurant regarding a domestic dispute.

Upon their arrival, officers encountered 22-year-old Kendicia Melanie Clarke, of Greensboro, who was one of the people involved in the dispute.

Authorities said that while officers were attempting to detain Clarke, she attempted to take one of the officers' gun and it discharged, striking officer H.L. Jefferson in the leg. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released.
