Two St. Louis police officers were rushed to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon after being shot in Ferguson.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Jon Hayden, Jr. said one officer was hit in the abdomen and is in very critical condition, FOX2 reported. The other officer was hit in the leg. Hayden asked the public to pray for the officers.

Hayden told the St. Louis Post Dispatch the officers had followed a car connected to a homicide to Ferguson.
