IL Officer Wounded, Suspect Killed in Grocery Store Gunfight

While details remain limited, police said the suspect entered the Food4Less grocery store and an exchange of gunfire with Oak Forest police officers ensued.

A female suspect is dead and an Oak Forest, IL, police officer is hospitalized following a shootout at an Oak Forest-area Food 4 Less store, city officials said Sunday.

A little more than an hour earlier, just before 11 a.m., Oak Forest officers responded to possible motorist needing assistance. Officers learned the driver, 21-year-old Ketura Wilson of Calumet City, Illinois, was armed with a firearm at the scene, WGN reports.

According to police, officers followed Wilson following a traffic incident.

While details remain limited, police said Wilson entered the Food4Less grocery store and an exchange of gunfire with Oak Forest police officers ensued.

Police said Wilson died from her injuries. The wounded officer remains in serious but stable condition, authorities added.
