A retired Chicago police officer was shot Sunday afternoon as another man attempted to take his car at gunpoint.
Around 4:05 p.m., the 59-year-old victim was in the North Lawndale neighborhood when he was approached by a man who announced a robbery, tried to take the victim’s car, and then pulled out a handgun, FOX32 reports.
Police say the retired officer and the robber exchanged gunfire and the former Chicago cop was struck in the arm and was last reported in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
