A police officer in Indiana is being credited with saving a woman’s life through his prompt actions when she tore an artery in a vehicle accident Wednesday.

Anderson police responded to a motor vehicle accident and arrived to find a woman trapped in her vehicle and bleeding badly. Officer Tyler McKeon acted quickly and placed a tourniquet on the trapped woman’s arm, reports FOX59.

“She would have bled out at the scene if it were not for Officer McKeon’s swift reaction and response to what could have been a fatal situation,” says Joni Brinkman, Community Hospital Emergency Department director, in a press release.
