TX Officers Wounded in Shotgun Ambush

Two Sachse, TX, police officers were injured when a man fired a shotgun into their parked patrol car during an ambush early Friday morning. One of the officers returned fire, striking the gunman.

According to the Sachse Police Department, about midnight two officers were in the parking lot of Medpost Urgent Care on an unrelated call for service. While completing the call for service, a subject walked up to the driver’s side and fired a shotgun through the window of the officers’ vehicle.

The shotgun blast struck the officer sitting in the driver-side seat in the head. The officer on the passenger side returned fire, striking the subject.

Both officers received non-life threatening injuries and were treated and released from the hospital. The suspect was undergoing surgery Friday morning, according to police.

Per police department protocol, the Texas Rangers were notified and responded to the scene and will be conducting the investigation.
