NE Officer Shoots Man Driving Toward Halloween Event

Police say about 7 p.m. an adult male driver went around the barricades at the Halloween event and approached the officer, who then shot the driver.

An Omaha, NE, police officer shot a driver who nearly hit a huge crowd of Halloween trick-or-treaters Monday evening after driving around barricades. Hundreds of people were gathered for the event at the time of the incident.

Police first received a report of a reckless driver in the area Monday night. Police tell KETV about 7 p.m. an adult male driver went around the barricades at the Halloween event and approached the officer, who then shot the driver. Video from the event shows the Ford Taurus making a turn past the barricades before accelerating in the direction of the crowd.

According to police nobody was struck by the reckless driver, and they don’t think the man had any weapons with him. He was taken by paramedics to an area hospital in serious condition.
