“TikTok provides us with another avenue to begin conversations with individuals who we know are looking for a meaningful career of service," Col. Charles A. Jones, patrol superintendent, says.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) this week began recruiting the next generation of state troopers through its new TikTok account.

OSHP says the TikTok content will “feature an innovative look at the rewarding career opportunities within the agency” and will be another platform on which to provide traffic safety messaging.

The account launched Nov. 15 and by the following morning already had hundreds of followers. The first video, running 46 seconds, shows rapidly-changing images of the various career opportunities with the department.

“Launching our new TikTok account on Nov. 15, which is the patrol’s 89th birthday, was intentional as it further illustrates our commitment to engaging with the public we serve and protect,” Col. Charles A. Jones, patrol superintendent, says. “TikTok provides us with another avenue to begin conversations with individuals who we know are looking for a meaningful career of service.”

OSHP is also using Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for recruiting. People interested in a career with the highway patrol can also visit statepatrol.ohio.gov or follow #JoinOSHP.
