Dashcam Captures Close Call for WY Trooper

The Wyoming Highway Patrol released dashcam video of when a tractor trailer nearly struck a trooper who was walking back to his patrol vehicle recently at an accident scene on Interstate 80.

The video, released by the highway patrol through social media, shows the trooper at an accident scene with a vehicle in a snowy median. As he walks back along the edge of the road a truck careens past the left side of his cruiser.

The trooper spots the oncoming truck and jumps in front of his patrol unit just before the truck zooms past between his vehicle and the one in the median.

According to the Wyoming State Patrol, “the tractor and trailer driver could not maintain control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway and into the median.”

“Luckily, no law enforcement or first responders lost their lives to this out-of-control vehicle,” the agency says in its post. “Please remember that emergency personnel want to be able to make it home safely at the end of their shift. Please slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.”
