Sgt. Mitch Spike of the Palm Springs (Calif.) PD was assigned protection duty for George Clooney for a screening of "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" (2002). "I'll always remember Mr. Clooney because my daughter, a huge fan of his, was home sick while I was working the detail. When it was over, I walked George to his car and mentioned my daughter. He said if I called her, he would talk to her on the phone and send get-well wishes. Poor George. My daughter almost blew out his ear drums from screaming when she found out who she was talking to!"

Officer David Jacober of the Pueblo (Colo.) PD met former lightweight boxing champ Ray "Boom-Boom" Mancini, while the boxer was visiting Pueblo to speak at the annual Colombus Day celebration in 2009. The officer remembers that Mancini was "a very personable man who didn't just sign autographs, he took the time to actually speak with people."

Detective Joshua Hunt of the Orrville (Ohio) PD met basketball coach Bobby Knight, who spoke at a charity event for the local Boys and Girls Club. "Mr. Knight has quite the reputation, but I have to tell you that he was truly a great guy," Hunt said. "I was able to watch him interact with many people from his past and was amazed by his memory and stories."

An unnamed deputy who identified himself only as "cowboy coot" poses for a photo with former MLB shortstop Ozzie "the Wizard" Smith.

Keith Gordon, who didn't identify his rank or agency, met former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates at a Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County (POALAC) luncheon.

Sgt. Mitch Spike of the Palm Springs (Calif.) PD met actor Sam Elliott in 1993, during the filming the made-for-TV movie, "Fugitive Nights: Danger in the Desert," which is based on a Joseph Wambaugh novel.

Jerry DeMarco, the publisher and editor of law enforcement support Website CliffviewPilot.com, became friends with former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik.

Lt. Nick DeMarco (now retired) of the U.S. Department of Defense Police met former First Lady Laura Bush while working her protective services detail with the U.S. Secret Service.

Sgt. Diana Drummey of the Coronado (Calif.) PD met President Bill Clinton when he stopped in the resort island city to play a round of golf. Because the city is home to the world-renowned Hotel del Coronado, the CPD is called into high-level protective duty a few times a year. "I may not like all his politics, but he was an awfully nice guy," said Drummey.

Deputy Matt Martin of the Fauquier County (Va.) Sheriff's Office met actor Robert Duvall during a local fund-raiser at the actor's farm. Martin is a master deputy sheriff assigned to the patrol division.

Lt. Chuck Haggard, of the Topeka (Kan.) PD met President Bill Clinton, when his department's SWAT team was working a counter-assault detail in coordination with the U.S. Secret Service.

Sgt. Mitch Spike of the Palm Springs (Calif.) PD met actor Brian Dennehy while he was filming the movie, "Cat City" (2008). "I had a small role and got to do a scene with Brian," said Spike.
