U.S., 4 Other Nations Call for Lawful Access to Encrypted Mobile Device Data
Following officials’ annual meeting, known as the Five Country Ministerial (FCM), it was agreed there is an “increasing gap” between the ability of police to access data and the ability to “acquire and use the content of that data” in the courts. Nations complained end-to-end encryption—used in apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram—is also used by terrorists and criminals.

Many Americans who own Nike products have been burning or otherwise destroying them or giving them away in response to the announced ad campaign. People also responded angrily on social media with images of flag-covered coffins of fallen officers and military personnel representing real sacrifice vs. Kaepernick's career woes.

The Aransas County (TX) Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that two tracking dogs that have in the past been instrumental in locating individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s that wandered away from their homes were strangled by individuals believed to be in this country illegally.

South Carolina Man Shot at Officers While Fleeing Robbery Scene on Lawnmower
Two officers with the Cilo (SC) Police Department and a deputy with the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office were investigating the break in when they encountered a person riding a lawnmower who fired shots at the investigators. The two police officers then returned fire, hitting the person on the lawnmower.

Video: Woman Carrying Baby Crashes During Pursuit, Attempts Carjacking
A woman who allegedly led police in Texas on a high-speed pursuit crashed into another vehicle and—carrying a baby in a car safety seat—allegedly attempted to carjack another vehicle. Video of the entire incident was captured by a pursuing police helicopter.

NYPD No Longer Arresting Most Pot Smokers
There are still cases where officers would arrest pot smokers, such as those with an outstanding warrant, people on parole or probation, those with a history of violence or who are deemed a public threat.
