The West Virginia State Police graduated 53 new troopers from its academy on Thursday, a day after a trooper was injured in a Randolph County shooting, reports the State Journal .
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, speaking at the commencement, congratulated the new troopers while expressing support for the family of the injured officer. "What happened yesterday in Randolph County is a terrible reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers face," Tomblin told the cadets.
