Woman Leads Ohio Officers on 175-mph Chase, Steals and Wrecks Patrol Vehicle

Ohio officers are looking for a woman who they say led police and deputies from multiple agencies on a chase at speeds of 175 mph, stole a sheriff's cruiser and crashed it in a ditch, then stole the pickup of a passerby who stopped to help.

Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Levorchick told the News Herald Monday that police followed a high performance Dodge sedan after highway patrol clocked it going 145 mph on Ohio 2 around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

The female driver, whom police did not identify, began heading westbound on Ohio 163 topping out at 175 mph, police say.

The Dodge crashed on Ohio 163, and a passenger was seriously injured, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

"As my deputy got out, the passenger was out and screaming for help and the driver got in our car and stole it," Levorchick said.

The woman sped off in the deputy's cruiser and drove about a mile down the road before losing control and running it into a ditch, Levorchick said.

Levorchick said, after the woman stole the police cruiser and crashed in the ditch, she stole a good samaritan's pickup and got back on the road, ending up crashing the stolen pickup in Detroit.
